Forty lucid biographies of gifted women
and men whose extraordinary creativity has benefited the human community,
including: Sappho, Plato, Frances Bacon, Tchaikovsky, Willa Cather, Wittgenstein,
Bessie Smith, Yukio Mishima. Excellent resource for role models and enhanced
esteem of lesbians and gays. Collection is significant and there needs
to be a second edition with more women and third world people; also more
contemporary heroes would be helpful.

Helpful reference for gay men in the early
stages of sorting out what it means to be gay.

The largest collection of articles on
homophobia published to date, this volume expands the concept of homophobia
as well as discusses related research.

The memoirs of a gay, black author of
science-fiction. Excellent model of coming to accept one's own sexuality
in a black culture.

Easy-to-read, light-yet-poignant look
at loneliness and the behavior of gay men. Very helpful resource for men
looking at making changes in their lives.

North Point Press.
An excellent novel of early life and psychosocial
and sexual development of a gay man. Engaging reading with excellent understanding
of the feelings of separation experienced by one gay man, and perhaps many
others.

A delightful and interesting historical
perspective of gay culture: words, symbols, and stories. Excellent for
any client newly accepting of his/her identity and wanting to know about
